online schooling

My daughter had a horrible time when it came to public schooling and being in a classroom of active other teenagers. She had a hard time concentrating so we tried online schooling. In her ten years of schooling she had only been to a total of maybe three years because her bi-parents were into the drug scene and in abusive relationships so she was out of school alot. She went from failing all of her schooling to getting a 3.8 GPA. The problem however was that our public schools in the area that we live in does not except ANY online schooling and if she wanted to graduate from high school then she would have to go 4 hours up north of us to get her diploma in a couple of years. They also would not pass her to the next level of classes when she finished the class way before the end of the school semister. She had 14 credits to make up so she went to alternative schooling which she has made up nearly all of those 14 credits so she is going to be graduation with the class that she started with when she came to us.

Now having said all that I would highly recommend doing homeschooling for k-12 but check in with your local school to make sure they accept a home/online schooling program. Also with younger children it is a little more time taking for the parent(s)/guardian. With the program that we did with our daughter we would go on and see what she was doing for her grades/work and we would put in how much time she put in which she had to due a minmum of 4.5 hours a day.

Hope this is helpful.
