What is System of Care, Really?Understand the System of Care philosophy as a values- based framework for change across the child- and youth- serving systems. Participants will acquire an applied knowledge of family- and youth-driven care and meaningful collaboration across the continuum of care. They will develop an understanding of how successful systems of care affect service delivery.
Identifying and Cultivating Natural SupportsDefine natural, informal, and formal supports; discuss best practices for identifying and cultivating natural supports with families in the Wraparound process
Wraparound: Digging Deeper with FamiliesFamilies and community members will assess their own experiences with Wraparound and determine when and how quality standards are being met.
Speaking WraparoundIncrease understanding of the Wraparound process for bilingual Spanish Speaking Interpreters that may work with families in Wraparound
Adult Mental Health First AidJust as CPR training helps a person with no clinical training assist an individual following a heart attack, Adult Mental Health First Aid helps a person assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
Youth Mental Health First AidYouth Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour certification course that teaches adults how to better help adolescents who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health problem.
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
CALMOne way to help prevent suicide is to reduce access to lethal means - particularly firearms and medications. This workshop addresses why and how to do this.
Navigating the Tough Stuff: Family Experiences with Suicide2 modules available. In module 1 we explore youth suicide awareness from the family perspective, including resources, risk factors for suicide, and holistic ways we can address youth suicide based on all 10 family life domain areas. In module 2 we discuss intervention.
Trauma: The what, why, and how we can respondIn this Intro to Trauma Training we discuss various types of trauma a person can experience and its effects on their brain, body, and health. We explore trauma related behaviors commonly seen and learn how to identify ways we can reduce episodes of re-traumatization, or re-triggering, of survivors of traumatic events.
Trauma Informed Self CareDuring this session we will look at the mind-body connection to trauma, as well as explore a variety of self-care tools that can be used within all 12 life domains. We discuss and practice together options such as rhythm, mindfulness, relational connection, visualization, nutrition, aromatherapy, and more
Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) 8-week Overview for familiesThe Collaborative Problem Solving™ approach is an evidence-based method to managing challenging behavior that promotes the understanding that challenging kids lack the skill -not the will -to behave; specifically, skills related to problem-solving, flexibility and frustration tolerance.
Journey to AdvocacyThis training will help parents and caregivers to develop their unique experiences into a meaningful personal story that can be shared with peers, providers, legislators, state and local leaders.
Family Advocates; Making a DifferenceThis training will provide information, tools, strategies, and support for family members, caregivers, and peers who are serving as advocates in elevating the family voice. Participants will develop an understanding of the purpose of advisory groups, gain skills for effective collaboration, and develop approaches to providing input, asking questions, addressing conflict, and managing strong reactions.
504 plan or IEP?This training compares and contrasts the process (child find, eligibility, etc.) and protections (child & parental rights) found under the Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
IEP BasicsProvides a basic understanding of parental rights and responsibilities, an overview of the IEP document and process, and a discussion on effective ways to advocate for your child.
Family Led Crisis PlanningIn this training, we explore how lived experience guides holistic crisis planning based on all 12 life domains. Using group discussion and practical tools, we navigate the paradigm shift from system led crisis planning to consumer led crisis planning.
Family led AdvocacyIn this training, we look at how laws are made, how family lived experience is crucial in shaping decisions and influencing laws, multiple methods of reaching legislators, and best practice for sharing your experiences.
Family Support Group FacilitationLearn what a successful support group needs, the skills of a good facilitator, how to maintain privacy and confidentiality, and more!
Family Matters – Child WelfareIn its own words, the child welfare system is a group of services designed to promote the wellbeing of children by ensuring safety, achieving permanency, and strengthening families to care for their children successfully. To the families with whom it intersects, “the system” may feel large, threatening, and not always supportive. In this training we will develop a mutual understanding of purpose, roles, responsibilities, and lived experiences. We will discuss strategies for working with the system to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families.
