PEER SUPPORT

FIND THE SUPPORT YOU NEED

Oregon Family Support Network (OFSN) offers the support you need as a parent or caregiver raising a child with behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges.

Our staff are primarily family members with lived experience. Having lived through the challenges faced when raising children with complex needs ourselves, we are well-positioned to help families navigate systems, while being empathetic and understanding as we help you find the support that will allow your child and family to thrive.

Building on this life experience, OFSN provides one-to-one family peer support. This strengths-based, family-driven model of support focuses on the strengths and values of each individual. Our work is guided by the family’s perspective and preferences about what help looks like.

OFSN ensures that families have increased access and opportunities to make decision for their child, regardless of the systems they are involved in.

OFSN staff are trained and certified to partner with families, bridging community and behavioral health professionals when:

  • Reviewing and/or attending Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and 504 Plan meetings with the caregiver(s) to ensure families feel empowered to advocate for their child’s education.
  • Working with a family whose youth is transitioning from another level of service, such as from Wraparound to outpatient, therapeutic psychiatric residential care.
  • Working with a family whose youth is transitioning from community-based Wraparound or other service level, and supporting age-related changes in placement such as schools and/or child services for youth and young adults.
  • Apoyar a las familias con información y navegación de recursos para ayudar a informar la toma de decisiones sobre recursos y servicios.
