Oregon Family Support Network offers training courses approved by Oregon Health Authority for Continuing Education Credits that will allow you to grow your knowledge, skills and confidence when you are called upon to provide positive support and advocacy.

Nurturing Fathers
This course offered in Inglés
The Nurturing Fathers program is an evidence-based, multi-week training course designed to teach parenting and nurturing skills to fathers and father figures. Each 2-hour class provides proven, effective skills for healthy family relationships and child development.

Family-Led Crisis Planning for Families
This course offered in Inglés
This training focuses on using your own knowledge and experience to guide crisis planning. Using practical tools and group discussion, we’ll explore a shift from system-led to family-led planning. When families take the lead, they are better able to build a plan that works for them!

Family Support Specialist Foundations
This course offered in Inglés
This 42 hour training is for certification of Family Support Specialists. A Certified Family Support Specialist (FSS) is one who is currently, or was previously, the primary parent/caregiver for a child with mental health/behavioral health challenges and uses their lived experience to support other families.

Wraparound 101 for Families
This course offered in Inglés
Wraparound is a planning process to help children and their families realize their hopes and dreams. This introductory training will help families gain an understanding of the Wraparound process, including the 10 Wraparound principles, the value of family voice and choice, and how Wraparound can be used to improve outcomes for youth and families with high-level mental and behavioral health challenges.

Family Centered Crisis Planning for the Workforce
This course offered in Inglés
This training, will highlight the importance of family members having an active participation and role in the design of their crisis plan. Together, we will focus on how the family and the youth perspective lived experience and culture can guide effective crisis planning. We will also be looking at effective ways of having conversations with our families that support the design of their crisis plan and taking a holistic, proactive approach. We will take a look at some practical family-led crisis plans and spend time working through scenarios and designing family-centered crisis plans.

Wraparound Phase 2

In this training, we will take a deeper dive into Phase 2 of Wraparound–Initial Plan Development– and into the role of the Family Support Specialist. We will break down the activities in this phase and how those activities support the bigger process of Wraparound. We will explore Family Support Specialist best practices and how we can assist the process of turning family strengths, needs and vision into a clear, actionable plan of care.

Empower others–and yourself! OFSN’s Partners In Possibility is a two-part training designed specifically for Family Support Specialists, who play a key role in the Wraparound process. Increase understanding of Wraparound fidelity and gain tools and practical strategies to bring family voice to the forefront, strengthen partnerships with team members, and support families through every phase of Wraparound.
This training is two four-hour trainings over two days. Prerequisite: Completion of SOCI’s 4-part Wraparound Foundations series.
